Authorities are searching for an Interlachen man they say attacked a woman and started a fire at a home. During the evening of Sept. 2, deputies said Jordan Green, 33, set fire to a room in the house and battered a woman.

According to the Putnam County Sheriff ’s Office social media post, the victim told deputies Green came to an Interlachen residence to start an argument and then he struck her in the head.

The victim fled from Green, gathering her children and locking herself in a bedroom. According to deputies, the victim said she smelled smoke and left the bedroom, but found a room in another part of the house on fire.

Deputies said the victim took her children and ran to a neighbor’s home and Green left the home. The victim also said Green entered the residence with lighter fluid in his hands.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office was assigned to the arson investigation and will determine if additional charges will be filed.

Green was on probation at the time of the attack, the sheriff ’s office said. In May, he was charged with felony battery of a person 65 years or older and Green received an order of no contact, according to court records. He was released July 12. Sheriff ’s office spokeswoman Allison Waters-Merritt said Green was seen walking on foot in the Interlachen area.

She said Green is considered a prolific offender and convicted felon, meaning he is on the agency’s radar when crimes occur near his residence. “We’ve received a couple calls about him in the Interlachen area,” Waters Merritt said.

Anyone with information as to the location of Green is asked to contact CrimeStoppers of Northeast Florida at 1-888-277-8477. Tips are anonymous and are eligible for a reward if leading to an arrest.

“We would encourage anyone to contact us so we can make the arrest, let the judicial process work and give the victim some peace of mind,” Waters-Merritt said.

Your tax return is ready for you to review on HRBlock.com. After you log in, if you click the tab that says Federal, it gives you the option to go to the beginning of the return. I always worry that I put something in wrong, so please double check your information. It’s mostly just your name address and social security number. You have one worksheet for a tax credit – the Recovery Rebate Credit, and your estimated refund is $1800.

When you’re sure everything is right you can go ahead and e-file. The site will check your tax return for errors, and ask you how you want to get your refund. Any future stimulus payments will be automatically sent to you the same way. Direct deposits get returned within 21 days, but you can only use direct deposit if the bank account is in your name. Paper checks take an extra three weeks to arrive, so it might be worth it to take a few extra days to open a bank account before you file.

That’s basically all there is. After you file you get to join the millions of Americans obsessively checking the IRS website Where’s My Refund for status updates. The site will tell you when your refund has been accepted, approved, and sent. It always seems like it takes forever, but you’ll get your refund eventually.

OK. Good Luck. Call me if you need anything.

Taxes and Stimulus Payments

Any stimulus money you didn’t receive in 2020 you can get now when you file your taxes. It’s all covered by the Recovery Rebate Credit. To see what the IRS has to say about it click here.

Probably the two easiest sites to file taxes online are H&R Block and TurboTax. Both of these are free. They try to trick you into to upgrading to packages you have to pay for. Just say no to any extra services they offer you.

You want to use Direct Deposit to get your refund. You don’t want to get an advance or have the money put on a debit card, because that will make getting any future stimulus payments super complicated. If you can’t use Direct Deposit, have them send the money by check. It will take three weeks longer, but you don’t have to worry about future stimulus payments getting lost for months because they were sent to the tax service instead of to you.

To qualify for the stimulus pay you can’t be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s return. If you didn’t get any stimulus money before you should get $1800. If you didn’t get money for a child that’s $1100. If you got some stimulus money, but you didn’t get all the money you should have, the IRS will send you the difference in your tax refund.

Answers to Thursday’s Worksheet

Today’s lesson is all about measuring angles. There’s a special tool called a protractor that you use to measure angles. Since I didn’t send protractor with you, we’ll have to save the regular exercises for this lesson for later. There are still exercises you can do – these have the protractor printed right on the page. So today’s math homework still has four parts =>

Step One : Watch the lesson video:

Step Two: Watch this video about using a protractor:

Step Three: Practice measuring angles by doing these exercises
