Your tax return is ready for you to review on HRBlock.com. After you log in, if you click the tab that says Federal, it gives you the option to go to the beginning of the return. I always worry that I put something in wrong, so please double check your information. It’s mostly just your name address and social security number. You have one worksheet for a tax credit – the Recovery Rebate Credit, and your estimated refund is $1800.
When you’re sure everything is right you can go ahead and e-file. The site will check your tax return for errors, and ask you how you want to get your refund. Any future stimulus payments will be automatically sent to you the same way. Direct deposits get returned within 21 days, but you can only use direct deposit if the bank account is in your name. Paper checks take an extra three weeks to arrive, so it might be worth it to take a few extra days to open a bank account before you file.
That’s basically all there is. After you file you get to join the millions of Americans obsessively checking the IRS website Where’s My Refund for status updates. The site will tell you when your refund has been accepted, approved, and sent. It always seems like it takes forever, but you’ll get your refund eventually.
OK. Good Luck. Call me if you need anything.
